Cooperativism was born at the end of the 19th century, specifically in October 1882, when the first orange-farming cooperative was founded in Alzira.
The first farming association started in Carlet in 1906, under the name Sindicato Agrícola. They were dedicated to orange commercialization. At first, there was not much activity, and it was not until 1952 that it started to be more relevant thanks to the creation of the Cooperativa de la Hermandad Sindical de Agricultores y Agricultores de Carlet. On 11 May 1958, the commercial department was created, and the corporate name changed to Sant Bernat de Carlet Agricultural Cooperative, which lasted until 1969, when it changed again to Cooperativa y Caja Rural Sant Bernat de Carlet.
In June 1976, we absorbed Cooperativa de Productos Agrícolas, aiming at creating a stronger organization in order to respond to the partners’ needs.
After a lot of nomenclature-changing due to the different legislations at the time, the name changed to Cooperativa Agrícola Sant Bernat Cooperativa Valenciana, still used today.
The Cooperative is currently made up of several divisions: Credit, Marketing, Supplies and Services, and the Common-Cultivation division.
